Four kinds of rides, one app

Whether you are beating the jam on a boda, heading to Entebbe Airport with luggage, or moving the whole family, KuwaRide has a ride for it. Tugende — let's go.

Boda

The classic boda boda motorcycle ride. Quick through Kampala traffic, ideal for short trips across town, work, school runs and beating the jam.

Car

Everyday car rides around Kampala — shopping, visits, meetings and getting home after dark, with room for a friend and your bags.

Up to 4 passengers

Car XL

Bigger vehicles for groups, families and extra luggage — group outings, events, airport runs with suitcases and market trips.

5–7 passengers · More boot space

Comfort

Newer, higher-standard cars for business trips, special occasions and anyone who wants a smoother, quieter ride.

Up to 4 passengers · Premium cars

Pay the way that suits you: Cash·MTN MoMo·Airtel Money Prices are set by drivers — agreed with you before the trip starts. No surge pricing.

Boda rides in Kampala — fast, familiar, fair

The boda boda is how Kampala moves. KuwaRide brings the boda you already know into one app: request a rider near you, see their photo, name and number plate, agree the fare, and go. No more standing at the stage guessing prices — and no surge pricing when it rains or traffic builds.

Every KuwaRide boda rider is verified and background-checked, and you confirm it is the right bike at pickup with the QR pickup check before you set off.

  • Boda rides across Kampala — town, suburbs and upcountry connections
  • See your rider's photo, rating and plate before they arrive
  • Pay by Cash, MTN MoMo or Airtel Money
  • Share your trip with family so they can follow your journey

Because drivers set their own rates, the price is agreed up front and stays fixed — the same price at 5pm in the jam as at midday.

  • Choose your driver, or rebook a favourite driver you trust
  • Request a same-gender driver if you prefer

Entebbe Airport rides — to and from Kampala

Flying in or out of Entebbe International Airport? Book a KuwaRide car for the roughly 40 km trip between Entebbe and Kampala via the Expressway. Your driver tracks your arrival, meets you at the terminal, and helps with your luggage — Car XL is there when the suitcases are many.

Airport rides are priced by the driver and agreed with you in advance, so the fare is settled before you land — pay by Cash, MTN MoMo or Airtel Money.

  • Pickups at Entebbe International Airport arrivals
  • Drop-offs for early-morning and late-night flights
  • Car XL available for groups and extra luggage
  • Share your trip so family know you have landed safely
Transport in Uganda

Ride-hailing in Uganda, built the Ugandan way

People search every day for a boda near me, a taxi in Kampala, an airport ride to Entebbe, or simply how to get around Uganda. The usual options — boda stages, matatu taxis, special hire cars — each have their place. KuwaRide adds something new: an app where riders choose their driver and drivers keep what they earn.

Most ride-hailing apps take a commission out of every trip — often 15–25% of the fare. KuwaRide works differently. Drivers pay one flat monthly subscription and keep 100% of their fares, so they can set fair rates and riders are not squeezed by surge pricing. KuwaRide is launching in Kampala first, with more Ugandan towns to follow.

For people getting around

Boda, car, Car XL and Comfort rides across Kampala and to Entebbe Airport — ordered in the app, paid by Cash, MTN MoMo or Airtel Money.

For boda riders & drivers

Work when you want, set your own rates, and keep every shilling of your fares for one monthly subscription — with your first 2 months free.

Launching soon

KuwaRide has not launched yet. Register your interest below — riders and drivers on the list will be the first to know when the app goes live.

For riders

How KuwaRide works for riders

From requesting a boda in Kampala to landing at Entebbe, every trip follows the same simple steps — and you stay in control of who drives you.

1

Set your trip

Enter your pickup point and destination, then pick Boda, Car, Car XL or Comfort.

2

Choose your driver

See nearby drivers with their photo, rating, vehicle and their own set price — then pick the one you want.

3

Confirm at pickup

Match the number plate, then scan the driver's QR pickup card to confirm you have the right driver and vehicle.

4

Ride, pay & rate

Pay by Cash, MTN MoMo or Airtel Money, then rate your driver to help keep standards high.

Choose your driver

You are not matched blindly. Browse drivers near you, compare their rates, ratings, vehicle and distance, and choose who picks you up.

Favourite driver

Found a driver you trust? Save them as a favourite and request them directly next time — many riders keep one trusted boda rider or car driver.

Same-gender driver request

If you are more comfortable riding with a driver of the same gender, turn on the same-gender request and KuwaRide will offer you matching drivers.

PERK bonus

In a hurry or heading somewhere out of the way? Add an optional PERK — a little extra on top of the fare — to thank a driver for accepting your trip quickly.

QR pickup check

Every driver carries a KuwaRide pickup card with their photo, name, plate and a QR code. Scan it when they arrive to confirm the right driver and vehicle before you start the trip.

No surge pricing

Rain, rush hour or a big match at Namboole — the price does not jump. Drivers set their rates and the agreed price is the price you pay.

Verified drivers

Drivers are identity- and background-checked before they can take trips, and their photo and number plate are shown on every booking. More on the Safety page section.

Two-way ratings

Rate your driver after every trip — and drivers rate riders too. Ratings of 3 stars or lower ask for a short comment, so problems get explained and fixed.

Pay your way

Cash, MTN MoMo or Airtel Money — pay however suits you, with a trip record and receipt kept in your history.

  • Vehicle registration / logbook
  • PSV licence where required for your vehicle class
  • Valid third-party insurance

Safety

Safety on every KuwaRide trip

Safety is built into how KuwaRide works — before, during and after the trip, for riders and drivers alike.

Verified, background-checked drivers

No driver takes a KuwaRide trip until their identity and documents are verified and a background check is complete. Verified drivers carry a badge on their profile.

Plate & photo match

Your booking shows the driver's photo, name, vehicle and number plate. If what arrives does not match what the app shows, do not get in — cancel and report it.

QR pickup check

Scan the driver's KuwaRide pickup card at the meeting point. The trip only starts once the QR check confirms the right driver and vehicle.

Share trip

Send your live trip to family or a friend with one tap, so someone you trust always knows where you are and when you arrive.

SOS button

An in-app SOS button is within reach on every trip. It alerts the KuwaRide safety team and your emergency contact with your trip details and location.

Trip history & reports

Every trip is saved with its route, fare and receipt. Left something in the car, or something went wrong? Report an incident straight from your trip history.

For boda trips, riders are encouraged to wear the helmet provided by the rider-driver, and drivers are expected to carry a spare helmet for their passenger. If you ever feel unsafe, end the trip at a safe, public place and use the SOS or report tools.

Questions

KuwaRide FAQ

Has KuwaRide launched yet?

Not yet — KuwaRide is in pre-launch. The app is not on Google Play or the App Store yet, and no bookings or payments are live. This website is a draft preview so riders and drivers in Kampala can learn how it will work and register their interest.

Where will KuwaRide operate?

KuwaRide launches in Kampala, Uganda first — including boda and car rides across the city and airport rides to and from Entebbe International Airport. More Ugandan towns are planned after launch.

What rides can I order on KuwaRide?

Four types: Boda (motorcycle, 1 passenger), Car (up to 4 passengers), Car XL (5–7 passengers with more luggage space) and Comfort (premium cars).

How do riders pay?

By Cash, MTN MoMo or Airtel Money — whichever suits you. The price is agreed with your driver before the trip, and there is no surge pricing.

Does KuwaRide take commission from drivers?

No. KuwaRide charges drivers 0% commission. Drivers keep 100% of their fares and pay one monthly subscription instead: Boda UGX 40,000, Car UGX 85,000, Comfort UGX 120,000.

What is the driver free trial?

Every new driver gets their first 2 months free. You can drive, earn and keep 100% of your fares during the trial — the monthly subscription only starts afterwards.

Can drivers set their own prices?

Yes. Setting your own rates is a core part of KuwaRide. Riders see your price before choosing you, so fair pricing wins more trips.

Can I request a driver of the same gender?

Yes. Riders can turn on the same-gender driver request, and KuwaRide will offer drivers who match. You can also save a favourite driver and request them directly.

What do I need to sign up as a driver?

A National ID, a valid driving permit (Class A for boda), vehicle registration, PSV licence where required, third-party insurance and a profile photo. See the driver section for the full list.
